The world looks at “rest” as freedom from activity and labor. They believe that “rest” is going on a vacation. Yet, I’ve heard many people coming off a vacation say that they needed a vacation from their vacation. Their vacation did not produce the rest they were hoping for, and it never will. True rest is not going on a vacation.
All the Israelites who came out of Egypt had to do was believe the Word of God that came through Moses, and they would have entered God’s rest. They would have entered the Promised Land and be at rest. They would have lived in prosperous cities they did not build, and in houses with goods they did not produce. But because of their unbelief, they could not enter in. Those who did not believe, died in the wilderness. They fail to experience God’s rest because of their disobedience.
There’s a rest for the people of God, and He wants us to experience it. Entering God’s rest is a promise to us that still stands. He doesn’t want us to miss it because of disobedience. The rest He has for you was made available when He made the world. You don’t have to work for it. You must stop doing your own works to enter into God’s rest. Mix your faith with God’s Word, and the Word will be a benefit for you. Today, enter into His rest so you do not fall into unbelief. Don’t let unbelief keep you from missing out on what God has for you—beautiful rest. It’s a rest that the world cannot give to you. When you enter God’s rest, it will be a place of healing, wholeness, prosperity, and abundant life.
THERE’S A REST FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD
